With no authentic record for reference on backdating Bagru's block printing practices but by some estimation having continued for the past 450 years, introduced and practised by the Chhipa community (literally meaning people who stamp or print) and still using the same methods of the past ensuring survival of the traditional art in this competitive modern market where the traditional art forms are being replaced by modern tools, techniques and synthetic dyes.
